Surfing Tips:
1.Try to get your own transport The best time to surf is dawn patrol and it might be hard to get a driver to pick you up. Even then sometimes the drivers are late!!! Missed that 'perfect wave'.
2. Uluwatu usually themost crowded beach and Padang also on the good days.
3.Try to arrange your accomodation near where you want to surf. You can always get to Kuta for the night life!
4. Take it slow at first, especially in the lineup. Figure out the tides and entry and exit spots. Give the locals a good vibe and priority
5. Wear your suncreen from day one or you might suffer later (including lost surf time), especially lips and nose.
6. Booties are recommended at least until you really get a spot wired and even then some spots at certain tides it's always a good idea. With booties you can use your feet to buffer the rest of your body from the reef and not get any injuries. Take your booties from home.. cheaper and you know they fit.
7. Also take your own leashes, rash guards, wax, sunsreen, etc... all that stuff is imported in Bali and is expensive. Everything else you can leave at home and buy there, including surf shorts.. super cheap!

Trekking
Using local guides is advisable, as it is easy to get lost trekking in Bali. One part of the jungle can look very much like another and many paths lead to nowhere. A number of adventure companies provide village and mountain treks and can also organize specialized group walks.
Water Sport
Jet skis, boats and water-skis are available for hire at the beaches of Sanur & Nusa Dua. For those of you who don't like the salt, these sports are also available at Lake Bratan.
